Choosing yours

Know your options before you buy

01

Twist pile

The everyday workhorse. Tightly twisted yarns spring back under footfall, so it keeps looking fresh in the places your family actually walks. Available in plain, heather and flecked finishes.

Best in: Stairs, landings and living rooms

02

Saxony & deep pile

A longer, softer surface that feels luxurious barefoot and gives a room that plush, hotel-like finish. Shows footprints — which many people love.

Best in: Bedrooms and quieter lounges

03

Loop pile & Berber

Uncut loops create a textured, hard-wearing surface with a natural look. Great value and very forgiving in high-traffic areas. We usually steer pet owners with claws towards twists instead.

Best in: Hallways, offices and busy homes

04

Wool & wool-rich blends

Naturally warm, flame-retardant and beautifully resilient. An 80/20 wool-rich blend gives you the feel of wool with the durability of man-made fibres.

Best in: Anyone wanting the best underfoot

05

Polypropylene & stain-free

Bleach-cleanable and highly stain-resistant, so red wine and muddy paws are far less of a drama. Excellent value per square metre.

Best in: Family homes, kids and pets

06

Patterned & stair runners

Herringbone, stripes and geometrics fitted as a full carpet or as a runner with brass or chrome stair rods for a real feature staircase.

Best in: Staircases and hallways

How we do it

From first call to finished floor

  1. 1

    Talk it through

Call in to the showroom or ring us. Tell us the rooms, the traffic and roughly what you want to spend — we will narrow hundreds of options down to a handful worth looking at.

  2. 2

    Samples at home

Colours change completely under your own lighting. We can bring samples to you so you can see them against your walls, sofa and curtains before deciding.

  3. 3

    Free measure and estimate

We measure every room properly, plan the seams and the pile direction, and give you a written price with no obligation. Gripper rods and door bars are included free.

  4. 4

    Underlay advice

Underlay does most of the work for comfort, warmth and lifespan. We will explain the difference between PU, crumb and sponge and recommend the right thickness rather than upselling.

  5. 5

    Fitting day

Our own fitters lift and dispose of your old carpet, prepare the subfloor, fit the new one and finish the edges and doorways neatly. Most rooms are done in a day.

  6. 6

    Aftercare

We tidy up, run through how to look after it, and we are at the end of the phone afterwards if you ever need us.

Looking after it

  • Vacuum regularly — most wear is caused by grit working its way into the base of the pile, not by footsteps.
  • Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth; never rub, as that pushes the stain into the backing.
  • Use a barrier mat at external doors to catch the worst of the dirt before it reaches the carpet.
  • Expect some shedding of loose fibres from new wool carpets for the first few weeks — it is completely normal.
  • Turn or move furniture occasionally so the pile does not flatten permanently in one spot.
  • A professional clean every couple of years keeps the colour lifted and extends the life of the carpet.

Good to know

Questions we get asked a lot

How much does a carpet cost fitted?

It depends on the size of the room, the quality of the carpet and the underlay you choose. Because we include free gripper rods and free door bars, the estimate we give you is the price you pay — there are no extras added at the end.

Do you move the furniture?

Yes, our fitters will move normal furniture for you. We just ask that you empty wardrobes, drawers and any breakables beforehand, and let us know in advance about anything very heavy or fragile.

Will you take the old carpet away?

We can lift and remove your old flooring and underlay as part of the job — just mention it when we measure up so it is included in the estimate.

How long does fitting take?

A typical room takes a couple of hours and most whole-house jobs are finished in a day or two. Stairs take longer than they look, particularly with winders or a runner and rods.

What underlay do I need?

For stairs we recommend a firmer underlay for safety and shape retention; for lounges and bedrooms a thicker PU underlay adds noticeable comfort and insulation. We will advise per room rather than selling one type for the whole house.

Can you make a rug from my carpet?

Yes. Any carpet we supply can be cut to size and finished with a bound or whipped edge to make a bespoke rug that matches your room perfectly.
